My mother passed away a couple years ago. It was her wish to have a private funeral and we honored that wish. I only received one note of sympathy from one of her friends at her KH. Two weeks later my husband came home from the DC and relayed the message that a lot of people tld him that they were sorry that there was no one to send their condolences to and that it was too late anyway. He thought I was terrible because I was hurt by that. I guess it's not an insult when you are no one.

Since when is it okay to make fun of people with Parkins Syndrome ( related to Parkinsons) ??
Ozzy is on better meds now and can do almost everything, but it has been a long battle for him and if (when) he has a relapse, are you going to mock him for that?
Parkinsons is a genetic disease, happens to run in my family too, both parents had it, my brother and 3 of my children have it. It is definitely not funny.
I think Ozzy has faced his disability with great strength and good humor, there is nothing wrong with his thought process. I wish him all the best.
FYI- many people with the disease look "vacant" and stare, have trouble walking and talking.

After leaving the Faith, do you celebrate all of the Holidays?
by Quarterback ini could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .
religious holidays such as christmas, and easter etc.. do you celebrate the holidays knowing some of their origins?.

I love all the holidays. We just had a small Mabon celebration yesterday. I love Autumn and everything that goes with it. My girls and I are going to make sugar skulls for the Day of the Dead, Halloween is soooo much fun. For 2 years we went trick or treating, it was AMAZING!! People were going back and forth between the houses laughing and making sure everyone (parents included) were offered candy and the costumes were admired at every door. People are so friendly...who knew?? Last year we handed out candy instead- also fun and the children were so polite. Without exception, they all took just one piece of candy and said thank you. Not as fun as going out but still so much nicer than I ever dreamed.
Christmas and Yule are so wonderful too. I always loved them and it is so nice to not have to pretend to not like everything. So lovely to see the wonder in the eyes of the children and not a few of us older ones too.
We do both Canadian and American Thanksgiving, as we have both persuasions in our family, can we ever be too thankful?
Easter is Spring and full of lovely flowers, chocolate and wonderful food. I have a Polish friend whose family literally has an all day feast set up in every room of their house, one of the most fantastic things I've ever seen.

When I first started seeing the real truth about the "Truth", I attended a DC that was being picketed. They put a wall of young boys, all around 12 or 13 years old, in front of the picketers. I thought that was very abusive to do that to those children. There was one picketer that I recognised as a former Elder who was talking through a bullhorn but very personally and mildly to the people walking. All I could do was make some eye contact and smile.
Those events made me think long and hard... they were a big push towards my freedom, though I didn't realize it at the time.
Please take care in the heat, make sure you have shade and stay well hydrated. It may well move someone to make a change in their lives.
Oh, and I have several relatives that are going to be at that assembly.

Topix.com Witnesses forum closed down?
by thistheother inhttp://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness.
apparently we had just been nailing the final nails in the blood doctrine (by way of discussing the wts flip-flopping) and discussing the (un) scriptural reason for the wts banning of beards.
i was surprised by how few the responses were and the ones that were there were very weak and not to the point.
